Content Repurposing with AI: Turn One Blog Post into 10 Pieces of Content

Most small businesses spend hours on a blog post, share it once, and move on. That wastes most of the work.

Content repurposing means turning one piece of content into many formats for different platforms. With AI, one blog post can become 10 pieces of content in about an hour. It's exactly how we run Solo Stack AI: every article on this site comes with its own thread, LinkedIn post, Facebook post, pin and short video.

Why repurpose

  • Most people never saw it. Each platform reaches a different audience, and each post reaches only a fraction of your followers.
  • People need repetition. Seeing the same idea in different formats is how it sticks.
  • It's faster than starting from scratch. The research and thinking are already done.
  • It sends traffic back to your best work. Every piece points to the original post or your email list.

Total: about an hour, using AI for the first drafts.

The thread

Threads reward a strong hook and one idea per post.

Prompt:

> Turn this blog post into an X thread of 8-10 posts. Post 1: a hook that makes people want to read on (a surprising fact, bold claim or common mistake), ending with 🧵. Posts 2-8: one practical point each, under 260 characters, no fluff. Last post: a one-line summary and "Full guide: link". Post: paste

The LinkedIn post

LinkedIn favours native posts with the link in the first comment.

Prompt:

> Write a LinkedIn post from this article for small business owners. Start with a one-line hook, then a short personal-style insight in the brand voice ("we"), then a list of 4-6 takeaways using ↳, then a question to invite comments. Under 1,300 characters. No hashtags in the body. Article: paste

The carousel

Carousels get saved and shared. Structure: hook slide → problem → 5-7 tip slides → summary → call to action.

Prompt:

> Turn this article into a 9-slide carousel. Slide 1: hook headline (max 8 words). Slides 2-8: one tip per slide with a 5-word title and 1-2 short lines. Slide 9: "Save this + follow for more". Article: paste

Then paste the text into a Canva carousel template. Canva's Magic Design and Brand Kit make this quick (see Canva AI features).

Short videos

You don't need to be on camera. Options:

  • Talking head: record 30 seconds on your phone using an AI-written script.
  • Screen recording: show the tool or process with a voiceover.
  • Faceless: text on screen over b-roll, with an AI voice (disclose where required).

Descript edits video by editing the transcript, removes filler words and creates captions automatically. Its clip tools can also find short clips inside a longer video. More options in best AI video editors.

Prompt:

> Write a 30-second vertical video script from this article. 0-2s: a hook that stops scrolling. 2-25s: the one most useful tip, in short spoken sentences. 25-30s: a call to action ("Comment X for..."). Include on-screen text suggestions. Article: paste

Pins

Make 3-5 pins per post with different headlines and images. Full method in how to make Pinterest pins with Canva.

Prompt:

> Write 5 Pinterest pin headlines (under 8 words), 5 keyword-rich pin titles (under 100 characters) and 2 pin descriptions (under 500 characters, 3 hashtags) for this article: paste

The newsletter

Don't just send a link. Give subscribers the best part of the post in the email.

Prompt:

> Write a newsletter email from this article. Subject line options (5). Body: a short personal intro, the 3 most useful takeaways in brief, and a link to the full post. Friendly, under 250 words, signed "The Solo Stack AI team". Article: paste

More prompts

  • Quote graphic: "Pull the 5 most quotable, standalone sentences from this article."
  • Facebook post: "Write a short, conversational Facebook post from this article ending in a question."
  • Community answer: "Write a helpful, non-promotional answer to this question: question, using the advice in this article. No links."
  • Myth video: "What's the most common misconception this article corrects? Write a 20-second 'myth vs truth' video script."

Scheduling with Buffer

Repurposing only works if you post consistently. Schedule a week of content in one sitting:

  1. Create all 10 pieces in one session (Monday morning, for example).
  2. Load them into Buffer across your channels.
  3. Space them out: thread and LinkedIn on day 1, carousel day 2, video day 3, pins all week, newsletter on your normal send day.
  4. Reshare evergreen pieces every few months.

Buffer's free plan covers a few channels. For a full comparison, see Buffer vs Hootsuite vs Later. Repurpose.io can also auto-post your videos to several platforms at once.

FAQ

What is content repurposing?

Content repurposing is turning one piece of content, like a blog post or video, into multiple formats for different platforms, such as social posts, videos, graphics and emails.

What is the best content repurposing tool?

There's no single best tool. A practical stack is ChatGPT or Claude for writing, Canva for visuals, Descript for video and Buffer for scheduling. Repurpose.io is useful if you mainly repurpose video.

Is repurposed content bad for SEO?

No. Social posts, videos and emails don't compete with your blog post in Google. If you republish the full article elsewhere (like Medium), use a canonical link back to the original.

How often should I repurpose content?

Repurpose every new post, and revisit your best-performing posts every 3-6 months with fresh formats.

Won't my followers get bored of the same content?

Most followers only see a small fraction of what you post, and different formats feel different. Change the angle, hook and format each time.
